Latest news..

'To date, Infinity Ward has been very quiet about the PC version of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and kept the focus on the console versions. With the release date getting closer, new information has been finally revealed.

There have been rumors going about that the PC version of MW2 is going to be delayed by at least 2 weeks. You can now put your worries to rest, as it's been officially confirmed that the game is on track to be released on 10th of November, 2009. A Steam version will soon be available for purchase.

PC gamers are also going to have the Prestige mode, like the console versions. If you are not familiar with the Prestige mode from Call of Duty 4 and World at War, it's an option that a player can choose after they progress to maximum level. It restarts you to level 1 and everything you've unlocked including weapons, experience and challenges will be reset, but you gain a special symbol next to your name, indicating that you are in Prestige mode.

Call of Duty 4 Prestige Levels

After the good news, Infinity Ward dropped a bomb shell on the PC gamers: there will be no dedicated servers in MW2, everything is handled via IWNet.
Robert Bowling - "You're completely reliant on IWNet and there is no dedicated server or server list. You rely on IWNet for matchmaking and your games, but you still have your private matches."
Surprisingly they haven't removed the keyboard and mouse support from the game. Joking aside, this is a huge blow to the PC community, where dedicated servers are as common as pumpkins on Halloween. There is a petition asking for dedicated server support with over 40000 signatures and counting, so obviously Call of Duty fans are not taking this lightly.'

I on the other hand have brought the game..I reckon it is a game worthy of being on my shelf, but I have to take into consideration about the support..I think because it goes through STEAM, that is where the server lists are stored..I never had too much of an issue with Counter Strike, so we will see what happens this time..
I will keep you all updated on how I find the game and then you guys can make up your own minds as I am still a bit unsure..
Dan..Get it anyway mate..You know you want to..

No ******* way! Buying it, your just saying "sure infinity ward F*** me over, it's cool, I'll buy your game anyway. Here, have my hard earned cash even though you just mugged off every "hardcore" gamer that plays on the pc.

Sod it, I'll proberly download it, that way I'll feel as though I've "stuck it" to the man in my own little way.

Buy it anyway!? HAH to that

Mate, I kind of agree, however, it is now installed on my machine and I can't stop playing it. The idea behind the dedicated servers is apparent, as the game now works exactly as console players have had it from the start, with the game constantly searching for the lowest ping players to enable the game to be run. When the connection to that server is lost however, then the game will stop and look for the next lowest, re-load the game from where it halted and you carry on.
I can't see the reasoning behind the lack of dedicated though..It is one of only a couple of games that work like this, and then to have to install it through STEAM as well..That rubs salt into the wounds, but you can't take anything away from the game itself. That is awesome, and it is so disappointing about the drawbacks that have arisen. Who knows, maybe they will see the light, but in all honesty I would have thought that the whole game will need to be re-written to accomodate the server option.
I understand where you are coming from Dan, but as a game, it is unmissable..
The game is pointed at console users first, then PC gamers after..I have an awful feeling that the console will be slowly known as the future of gaming.. That sucks..

Well, I'm sticking to my guns on this, I know me not buying it has bugger all of an effect on Infinity ward, but if no one makes a stand, they'll carry on rubbing there hands together in greed, with little thought to what we "the end user" wants.

And the fact that its getting like console gaming, really grates me. To play console games you need £200 and about 3 brain cells to set it all up, to be a pc gamer you have to put in so much more (cash and effort) but the end result is normally so much better than consoles. I find it insulting to be pushed down to a consoles level

I reckon thats the way it is going..More money will fill the pockets of the games industry as time will go by..Look at how many platforms games are released on these days, and whats the cheapest option? The PC version of course..
With the way the industry going, and with the PS3 for instance being now a 'multi media' centre of types, the big money is sitting with Sony and they know it..Shame they don't make PC's...
Maybe see you on the battlefields of MW3?

You might see me on the battlefield sooner than that I'm afraid, there's 4 or 5 in my clan that have got it, and me clan leaders are sort of pulling rank and trying to get me to buy it, which I can't blame them for. It is the biggest game to come out in years, well since cod 4. It's not that I don't want to play it, coz I do, I'm just a bit too proud and when I feel that I've been mugged off, I want to do something about it, BUT you know what they say about pride and falls... Anyway, alot in my clan have been talking about bad company 2 that comes out early next year, if its any good MW2 will just fill the gap til that comes out
